University fact checking of the presidential debate of Chile in 2017

Abstract

The paper presents the teaching method applied to fact check the campaign and televised presidential debate of the 2017 election in Chile, in a course of undergraduate Journalism students. The article explains the design and development of the project and its journalistic and learning results, among being pre-selected in a professional excellence in Journalism award, the assessment made by the students of their learning process to verify the public speech of authorities and their contribution to democracy as watchdogs.
