Abstract

The aim of this case study was to delineate interaction networks among the various agents taking part in the Profuncionário programme of the Federal Institute of Bahia (IFBA), between 2013 and 2015, in order to identify the main phenomena, characteristics and particularities of the communities of practice (CP). In this research, different ways of participating in the CP were identified. On the whole there was greater emphasis on receiving information. CP were seen to have great potential in distance education, because they facilitate greater integration and motivation of social agents involved in the process.
