Abstract

This article aims to explore the concept of innovation through a Design case, The Shoe that Grows, a type of adjustable size children's sandal designed to cushion children living in extreme poverty. The case draws attention because it first meets a human need and uses design and business strategies to democratize access to footwear. Through a study of the literature, taking as main contribution the Oslo manual, we present a twist on the concept of innovation that can be understood as a critique, which might make it expand.
