Abstract

New technologies and the expansion of visual experiences pose a challenge to education. This paper proposes participatory video as a tool for education in new digital media and visual literacy. Participatory video is an educommunicative action connected to the social contexts in which it is practiced. We understand participatory video as a form of democratic experimentalism that questions the uni-directionality of teaching-learning processes in order to generate situations of dialogue and the production of knowledge. Therefore, its implementation is a resource to promote empowerment and educational change.
